Industrial Hygiene Officer

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the safety and well‑being of employees in the workplace by preventing accidents, promoting a safe work environment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

• Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and non‑compliance with safety standards.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near‑misses, and safety‑related incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees, managers, and supervisors.
• Monitor compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
• Assess the need for safety equipment and personal protective equipment and ensure their availability, proper use, and maintenance.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire safety plans, and first aid protocols.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree? No.
• Licenses and Credentials:
  None.
• Experience:
  
  2–3 years of safety‑related experience;
  Leadership experience 1–2 years preferred.
• Knowledge/skills:
  Knowledgeable of local, state, and national safety regulations and standards, including OSHA guidelines and relevant industry‑specific regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop effective safety strategies.
• Keen eye for detail to identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Strong leadership qualities to effectively educate and motivate employees to adhere to safety guidelines.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and work in diverse environments.
