Discover more about our mission and impact iongift.org Vision Gift is looking a Processing and Distribution Technician (PDT). This position is learned through extensive on‑job training. This is a great opportunity for individuals who support donation, possess strong problem‑solving skills, and have excellent attention to detail. This is a fast‑paced role where mastery and ownership of important processes is gained quickly.
The PDT is responsible for ensuring the daily tasks related to tissue processing and distribution are accomplished. This includes circulating, processing tissue, evaluating tissue, entering data, and packaging tissue, etc. The PDT must be dedicated to the performance of eye banking and have strong communication skills. The schedule may vary depending on the needs of the department and could include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
This position requires ‘on-call’ shifts.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in science is recommended. Commensurate experience may substitute for degree.
Experience / SkillsVery fine motor skills are required for processing tissue for transplant. Preference will be given to those with experience in universal/standard precautions, sterilization techniques and autoclave operation. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office software is ideal.

- Prepare ocular tissue for transplant
- Evaluate tissue for suitability using specular microscopy, slit lamp biomicroscopy, and OCT
- Prepare all supplies and field for tissue processing
- Distribute and package tissue
- Manage shipments
- Delivers tissue to local surgical facilities on occasion
- Circulate for operator
- Sterilize and maintain equipment
- Support the Laboratory Technician by maintaining laboratory and supplies in a state of readiness, e.g. cleaning, performing inventory, ordering supplies, and other duties as needed/directed
- Shift differentials for nights & weekends
