Position: Technician I, QC Sample Management (Night Shift)

Job Summary

The QC Sample Management Technician is responsible for the movement and control of QC samples and materials, including in‑process, finished drug product, characterization, retain, and stability samples processed through the QC laboratories. Duties include sample collection and distribution, inventory control, chain of custody, sample tracking, and sample delivery.

Shift Pattern

Works from 6:00PM to 6:00AM on a 12‑hour rotating shift. The shift cycle is 36/48 hours over a 2‑week period, including every other weekend, holidays that fall on scheduled workdays, and adverse weather conditions. Flexibility for irregular hours and short‑notice overtime may be required.

Education
  • Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or related science; or a high school diploma/GED with 2+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience with cold chain sample storage and transfer in a GMP regulated environment.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic systems (email, MS Office).
  • Experience with LIMS and ELN computer applications.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20lbs.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards for GMP laboratories.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and ability to handle competing deadlines.
  • Team‑oriented and able to meet deadlines in a high‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication with peers and management.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Handle test samples throughout the sample lifecycle: receipt, storage, distribution, transfer, and disposal.
  • Facilitate cold chain transfers of samples.
  • Ensure samples and materials are appropriately labeled and maintain proper tracking records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inventory and distribution of QC samples to functional groups as scheduled or requested.
  • Record performance metrics for the sample management group.
  • Support the identification and implementation of process efficiencies.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding task completion, roadblocks, and needs.
Working Conditions
  • The incumbent will be working around biohazardous materials and may be exposed to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures.

Compensation

Devens, MA – US: $27.35 - $33.14 per hour (full‑time). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available. Final compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
