Overview
Monte Rosa Therapeutics (MRT) seeks to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and highly talented medicinal chemist who is eager to discover molecular glue degraders (MGDs) that eliminate disease-causing proteins previously thought undruggable.
This position plays a key role in advancing our drug discovery projects from Lead Identification through development candidate nomination and beyond, while also enhancing the MRT degradation platform. The successful candidate should have state-of the-art medicinal chemistry expertise in small molecule drug discovery, prior experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams, and a passion for advancing projects towards clinical development candidates.
ResponsibilitiesDevise and implement medicinal chemistry strategies to advance projects from hit validation through lead optimization to development candidates
Analyze High Throughput Screening (HTS) output with the goal of identifying promising starting points for hit generation chemistry from our growing MGD library
Develop hit follow up and lead generation strategy for discovery targets in collaboration with discovery scientists
Provide chemistry progressability assessments for early targets
Familiarity with key concepts and optimization strategies in medicinal chemistry including a clear understanding of ADME properties
Serve as chemistry project lead for protein degradation projects
Efficient and timely execution of compound syntheses through our CRO network, by devising efficient synthetic routes
Collaborate with external research partners
Communicate scientific findings and project updates to senior leadership and governance
Summarize and publish findings in manuscripts and patents when appropriate
QualificationsPhD in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry with 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry, or MS with 8+ years of experience is acceptable
Experience in the field of Targeted Protein Degradation is preferred
Strong expertise in High-Throughput Screening (DEL, ASMS, etc) analysis and subsequent follow-up studies
Experience of managing CROs is essential
Familiarity with early stages of pre-clinical research in drug discovery
High level of proficiency with databases, data analysis and visualization tools
Proficiency in complex molecule synthesis and/or synthetic method development experience
Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in global, cross-disciplinary drug discovery teams (biochemistry, biology, structural biology, CADD, and DMPK)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
