Research Scientist, Drug Discovery

Our lab is based in Kendall Square and we have secured substantial funding, providing us with several years of runway to bring groundbreaking ingredients to market.

THE OPPORTUNITYWe’re looking to hire a Scientist to join the R&D team at Strand Research. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or material science along with proven success in early-stage drug discovery. In this role, you will:
- Develop novel small molecules, peptides, proteins or polymers for cutting-edge applications in hair
- Lead research programs focused on new molecule discovery, screening, validation, and assay development.
- Drive research conception, planning and execution of studies that support our R&D projects, spearheading them from proof-of-concept to product validation.
- Continuously refine experimental plans to enable data-driven decision-making and accelerate the transition from concept to market-ready products.
- Develop and present new project concepts to expand our pipeline of innovative solutions.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and mentorship to 1-3 team members, fostering a culture of innovation and leadership within the organization.
- You hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or Pharm
D in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. - You possess extensive knowledge of current techniques in chemistry or biochemistry, with hands‑on experience in their application.
- You are intensely focused on driving discoveries from the lab to the market, ensuring that concepts are not just theoretical but are translated into tangible, impactful products.
- You have a deep curiosity and a passion for tackling challenging problems in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- You bring high intensity and discipline to your work, and are excellent in creating structure for ambiguous problems
- This position is hiring for an immediate start
- This position is in‑office 5 days a week in our Cambridge, MA office
