The Flow Cytometry Research Associate will play a hands‑on role in cell handling and flow cytometry, supporting both routine sample processing and project‑based activities aimed at enhancing assay capabilities. This position involves preparing samples and reagents, executing flow cytometry assays, and contributing to the development and validation of new laboratory methods.
Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining flow cytometry instruments and associated software, documenting scientific work in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN), and supporting data analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.
Responsibilities- Perform routine and project‑based cell handling and flow cytometry experiments.
- Prepare samples, buffers, and solutions for cytometry assays.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot flow cytometry instruments and related software (e.g., Cytoflex).
- Assist in the development, optimisation, and validation of new laboratory procedures and assays.
- Analyse flow cytometry data using platforms such as Flow Jo, Cytexpert, or equivalent tools.
- Maintain accurate, detailed scientific documentation within an electronic laboratory notebook.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high‑quality, reproducible results and continuous improvement of cytometry workflows.
- B.S. in biological or biochemical sciences (or related field) with 3–4 years of relevant laboratory experience, OR M.S. in biological or biochemical sciences (or related field) with 1–2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Expertise in cell handling and flow cytometry; experience with Cytoflex instrumentation is a plus.
- Proficiency with flow cytometry data analysis software (Flow Jo, Cytexpert, or similar).
- Strong organisational, time‑management, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to design experiments, analyse data, maintain clear records, and follow established procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; adaptable, self‑motivated, and positive mindset.
- Experience with multi‑colour flow cytometry (minimum of 2‑colour panels).
- Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation.
- Authorisation to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- 10‑15 minute phone interview with regional recruiter.
- 45‑60 minute virtual interview with manager and/or group leader.
- 45‑60 minute onsite meeting with the team.
Position is Full Time, Monday – Friday, 8 am‑5 pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
