Job Description & How to Apply Below
The core program is to translate AD genetics and functional genomics into human brain cells both in vitro 2D and 3D models using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) from population and isogenic lines generated by CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and in vivo hiPSC/rodent chimera systems in comparison with post-mortem brain. In particular, the research will focus on deciphering the molecular mechanism of major AD risk variants as well as protective variants, associated genes and identifying targeted therapeutics.
Furthermore, the research focusing on human iPSC-glial transplantation in AD animal models followed by in vivo electrophysiological and behavior readouts will enable potential stem cell therapeutics. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative research team that includes computational geneticists, neuroscientists and pharmacologists in the department as well as Genome Science Institute and Center for Systems Neuroscience at Boston University.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter outlining their research interests and career goals, a current CV, and contact information for three references to Dr. Julia TCW, Assistant professor and Director [juliatcw] or .
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Required Skills
* Experienced in handling stem cells (mouse or human iPSCs, embryonic stem cells) and any cell type differentiation (2D or 3D cell cultures), or Experienced in electrophysiology (in vivo ephys, Ca imaging, MEA, path clamping), animal behaviors
* (Plus) CRISPRa/i screens, genome-editing
* Clear written and oral communication and detailed documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
