Position Summary / Department Summary
The Computational Neuroscience Laboratory, led by Dr. Caterina Stamoulis, is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Research Assistant I/II. The Research Assistant will work on projects at the intersection of Computational Neuroscience and Data Science, aiming to analyze large functional and diffusion MRI (fMRI and dMRI) datasets to understand the development of brain circuits in adolescence and the impact of physiological and environmental factors on their maturation trajectories.
This is an excellent opportunity to work at a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, become involved in Computational Neuroscience research, and learn cutting‑edge computational techniques.
- Independently develop large‑scale computer codes, almost exclusively using MATLAB, and implement novel algorithms for characterizing brain networks and their developmental trajectories.
- Analyze large volumes of fMRI, structural MRI, and diffusion MRI data.
- Develop statistical models for longitudinal analyses.
- Maintain and expand the capabilities of a novel computational platform for large‑scale analysis of very large brain datasets.
- Participate as co-author in manuscripts and conference abstracts.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience, Biological/Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (with a focus on Signal Processing), or Physics.
- Coursework in computational Neuroscience (if pursuing a degree in Neuroscience).
- If not a Neuroscience graduate, basic coursework in Neuroscience.
- Experience in MATLAB programming and ability to independently write code is required.
- At least one year of research experience.
- Experience in analysis of human brain data is heavily preferred.
- Experience in fMRI data processing is preferred.
