Position Description

Associate Scientist Flow Cytometry Mass Spectrometry - R45177

The individual in this role is primarily responsible for the maintenance and operation of the CyTOF instrument, a key technology employed to facilitate comprehensive phenotypic characterization of process development and clinical samples derived from cellular therapy trials. The Associate Scientist I is entrusted with overseeing the operation of the instrument, managing laboratory reagents, and conducting experiments to ensure optimal utilization and advancement of the CyTOF technology in support of research objectives.

Roles

Responsibilities
  • Operation and maintenance of our mass cytometry (CyTOF®) instrument.
  • Maintain and manage reagent inventory to ensure constant supply of critical reagents.
  • Perform in-house conjugations for mass cytometry reagents.
  • Conduct immunological phenotyping studies of Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells (CAR-T), and Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC).
  • Optimize current protocols.
  • Perform all aspects of mammalian cell culture, including media and buffer preparation, culture initiation, propagation, and cryopreservation of cells.
  • Assist in technical review and writing of supporting documents including protocols and reports.
  • Performance of general laboratory tasks, including maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable record keeping including database management, batch records, notebooks, and all other pertinent documentation.
Skills
  • BS 0-3 years in cell biology, immunology, bioengineering or related discipline.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to operate and troubleshoot complex instrumentation.
  • Willingness to work with human biological samples.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and results.
  • Excellent organizational skills, sufficient to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written skills; ability to provide focus and clarity; able to handle confidential information and material appropriately.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software, hardware, and standard office sufficient to record scientific data, results, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize and balance work from multiple individuals.
  • Experience with flow cytometry and/or mass cytometry staining, and data analysis.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture.
Education & Experience
  • BS 0-3 years in cell biology, immunology, bioengineering or related discipline.
