An academic research opportunity in the Bosmann Laboratory, Department of Medicine, focusing on Immunology and Host‑Pathogen Interactions at barrier tissues such as lung and gut. The laboratory studies bacterial infections, pneumonia, sepsis, inflammatory bowel disease, and related immune mechanisms with the aim of discovering novel therapeutic targets.
- Projects may involve IBD‑related mucosal immunity or pneumonia and sepsis.
- Use of genetically engineered mouse models.
- Bacterial polyphosphates in immunity at barrier organs (gut and lung)
- Host‑pathogen interactions
- Innate immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and T cells
- Cytokine biology and immune signaling pathways (e.g., G‑protein signaling)
Pathogens of interest include Escherichia coli, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Legionella spp., and other related organisms. Projects will be tailored to the candidate’s background and interests.
Required SkillsExperience in experimental immunology, mouse models of infection or inflammation, innate immunity, and experimental transcriptomics or proteomics is preferred.
