Job Description & How to Apply Below

Medical Chronobiology Program (MCP) in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Medicine at Brigham and Women  Hospital and Harvard Medical School invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join an interdisciplinary research project investigating how biological sex modulates the metabolic consequences of circadian misalignment, with the long-term goal of informing sex-specific interventions for night shift workers. Shift work is common across many sectors and is associated with increased risk for metabolic disorders, including obesity and diabetes.

A major contributor to these risks is circadian misalignment, the mismatch between behavioral/environmental cycles and the body  internal circadian system.

Although sex differences in circadian physiology and metabolism are well established, relatively few controlled human experimental studies have examined whether males and females differ in their metabolic responses to circadian misalignment. The successful candidate will contribute to a randomized, controlled, cross-over laboratory study comparing circadian alignment and circadian misalignment in males and females. The selected candidate will work under the co-supervision of Dr.

Jingyi Qian and Dr. Frank A.J.L. Scheer.
