Job Description
The Discovery Analytical Research group within Analytical Enabling Capabilities seeks applicants for a Senior Scientist position at our Boston, Massachusetts research facility. The successful candidate will enable discovery of new drug candidates—biologics, small molecules, and emerging modalities—by developing, implementing, and executing analytical measurement technologies that accelerate discovery research and influence molecular design. The role requires collaboration in a dynamic, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment.
Tools include high‑resolution mass spectrometry, chromatography, spectroscopy, and the development of new technologies to influence selection of new drug candidates and enhance scalability and robustness.
- Enable discovery partner groups with advanced analytical methods.
- Represent the discovery analytical research group in project teams.
- Solve challenging problems using high‑resolution mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, ion chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, and two‑dimensional techniques.
- Explore and develop new measurement‑science technologies.
- Demonstrate multitasking, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills in planning and executing experiments.
- Collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment.
Minimum Requirements
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field, or an M.S. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field with 5+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience.
Required Experience and Skills- Strong background and extensive hands‑on experience in high‑resolution mass spectrometry of large molecules (proteins, mAbs, ADCs, etc.) and separation science techniques.
- Demonstrated scientific ability through publications in peer‑reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver complex objectives under challenging timelines in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment with cross‑functional interactions.
- Proficiency in analytical chemistry, analytical method development, assay development, bioanalytical analysis, biochemical assays, biopharmaceuticals, cell‑based assays, chromatographic techniques, chromatography, GMP environments, LC‑MS, MS, NMR analysis, PAT, UPLC.
- Understanding of biochemistry and organic chemistry.
- Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebook applications and good documentation practices.
The salary range for this role is $ – $, based on education, qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other factors. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual bonus and long‑term incentive, if applicable.
