Title:
Scientist II (Associate)
Duration: 05+ Months Contract
Location:
Boston, MA 02115
Shift: Monday-Friday (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) – 40 Hours/Week
Position Summary- Support drug discovery programs through the design, development, and execution of cellular in vitro assays.
- Perform semi- and fully automated high-throughput screening of compounds and biologics.
- Conduct mammalian cell culture and cell-based assay activities in a research laboratory environment.
- Generate, analyze, and communicate experimental data to support research projects across multiple disease areas.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance therapeutic discovery and development efforts.
- Independently design and implement various cellular in vitro assays using a broad range of methodologies.
- Execute semi- and fully automated high-throughput compound and biologics screening assays.
- Develop and execute experimental strategies to define biomarkers, mechanisms of action, and resistance of therapeutic agents.
- Perform mammalian cell culture, passaging, harvesting, and cell-based assay execution.
- Run existing assays and contribute to assay development and optimization activities.
- Test compounds and evaluate biological activity in support of internal drug discovery programs.
- Properly document, analyze, and report experimental findings.
- Provide scientific contributions to research projects and programs across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Work collaboratively with scientists and cross‑functional teams to support projects at various stages of research and development.
- Utilize scientific software and statistical methods to analyze and interpret data.
Education:
- B.S./B.A. degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; OR
- M.S. degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- PhD candidates are not being targeted for this role.
Experience:
- Extensive laboratory research experience in academic or industrial settings.
- Experience with medium- and high-throughput assay execution.
- Hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture, passaging, and harvesting.
- Experience with cell‑based assays and assay development.
- Experience testing compounds in support of drug discovery programs.
- Experience with MSD and AlphaLISA/Alpha assays is preferred.
- Experience with assay troubleshooting and multiple high-throughput screening formats is a plus.
Skills:
- Mammalian cell culture techniques.
- Cell-based assay development and execution.
- High-throughput screening (HTS).
- Assay development and optimization.
Data analysis and scientific problem-solving. - Graph Pad Prism.
- PowerPoint.
- Basic statistical analysis including mean, standard deviation, and correlation analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
