Research Lab Tech ; Friedman

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data. Candidates who have not yet completed a bachelor’s degree have a grace period of six months from hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.

• Performs laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures.
• Prepares and handles samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
• Records experimental data accurately and maintains organized records of procedures, protocols, and results.
• Compiles and analyzes data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
• Assists in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports.
• Assists in care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and work area.
• Alerts supervisor to equipment and supply needs.
• Performs clerical duties incidental to research tasks as required.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Enhances professional growth through educational programs, seminars, and conferences.
• Performs other research‑related functions as required or directed.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study required.
• 1–2 years of laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment, preferred.
• Experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
• Spanish speaking preferred.

• Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience with laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.
