Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data. Candidates who have not yet completed a bachelor’s degree have a grace period of six months from hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.
Responsibilities- Performs laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures.
- Prepares and handles samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
- Records experimental data accurately and maintains organized records of procedures, protocols, and results.
- Compiles and analyzes data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
- Assists in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports.
- Assists in care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and work area.
- Alerts supervisor to equipment and supply needs.
- Performs clerical duties incidental to research tasks as required.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Enhances professional growth through educational programs, seminars, and conferences.
- Performs other research‑related functions as required or directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study required.
- 1–2 years of laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment, preferred.
- Experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
- Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience with laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.
