Principal Associate Scientist

Position Overview

Principal Associate Scientist sought by Ascidian Therapeutics, Inc. in Boston, MA. Responsibilities include designing, validating, executing, and interpreting experiments to improve the therapeutic performance of designer RNA editing molecules and contributing to the characterization of drug candidates to support our Roche Collaboration.

• Design, validate, execute, and interpret experiments focused on RNA editing therapeutics.
• Enhance therapeutic performance of designer RNA editing molecules.
• Contribute to characterization of drug candidates for our Roche Collaboration.
• Design and clone RNA exon‑editing molecules.
• Develop and optimize assays to measure RNA editing.
• Prepare custom Illumina libraries and conduct bioinformatic analysis.
• Perform cell culture, ddPCR, qPCR, protein extraction, and characterization by JESS and western blot.
• Carry out Sanger sequencing analysis and use sequence design/analysis software.

• Master’s degree in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Biochemistry or related field and 3 years of related experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
• Experience in RNA therapeutics with focus on pre‑mRNA splicing and protein translation.
• Proficiency in designing and cloning RNA exon‑editing molecules.
• Experience designing assays for RNA editing detection.
• Skill in optimization and preparation of custom Illumina libraries.
• Bioinformatic analysis of sequencing libraries.
• Cell culture, ddPCR, qPCR, protein extraction, JESS and western blot, Sanger sequencing experience.
• Strong knowledge of sequence design and analysis software.

Salary range: $112,017 to $118,400 per year. Final salary offer will be determined based on candidate’s relevant experience, specific skills, and internal equity.
