Job Summary
The senior research laboratory technician, under general supervision of the principal investigator, carries out a broad range of research activities and procedures with some latitude to determine techniques and establish protocol. They perform lab procedures with speed, method, precision, and an understanding of the theory behind tests and procedures, working independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities• Conduct laboratory research activities and establish protocols as directed by the principal investigator.
• Perform experiments and procedures with a high level of speed, precision, and methodological accuracy.
• Work independently while maintaining a clear understanding of the underlying scientific principles.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
Experience:
3‑5 years in an academic or laboratory research setting.
Licenses/credentials:
None required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to oversee the work of others.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and set deadlines.
- Strong database management and overall computer skills.
- Functions with speed, precision, and an understanding of the theory behind tests and procedures.
