Job Title
Computational Sensing Research Engineer
DepartmentAnalog Garage, Deep Tech Architecture Group, Boston
Responsibilities- Architect novel and optimized sensor signal chains to reduce data rate and latency while preserving application-specific information in system context
- Develop simulations and build prototypes of sensor signal chain to assess and validate advanced concepts, analyze data produced through these activities to drive optimization and design iterations
- Design of readout integrated circuit for image sensors, ADC architectures, circuitry to implement near-pixel processing
- Contribute to IP generation and planning for advanced sensor platforms
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including sensor system architects, digital designers, algorithm researchers, software developers, and research scientists driving domain‑specific experiments
- Clearly and rigorously document ongoing work, generate technical reports on project concepts, approaches, and outcomes
- Keep up with advancements in mixed signal design, intelligent sensors, image sensors, sensor signal processing, and the impact of machine learning and artificial intelligence on sensor data processing
Education
:
- PhD or experienced M.S. in EE with focus on mixed‑signal circuits, alternatively a PhD in Computer Engineering or Physics with strong mixed‑signal design experience
Experience
:
- Sensor signal chain design, mixed‑signal design, noise analysis and mitigation, FPGAs
- Experience with CMOS image sensor (CIS) technology development, readout circuitry for image sensors, image sensor calibration and characterization
- Deep background in signal and image processing, experience in applying modern machine learning‑based approaches to signal processing tasks and their implementation in resource constrained settings, background in recent artificial intelligence‑based models and their uses in processing sensor data
- Strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals and conferences
- Eager to work on challenging, open‑ended problems, and to understand their context
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and a creative, persistent approach to complex technical challenges
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, interdisciplinary research environment

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $144,000 to $198,000.
Benefits- Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
- This position qualifies for a discretionary performance‑based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
