The postdoctoral fellow will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians. Responsibilities include participating in all aspects of data acquisition and management, developing, modifying, and executing analytical protocols, preparing publications and scientific presentations, disseminating results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at major national and international meetings, and mentoring junior staff. Opportunities exist for excellent scientific interactions and collaborations with an extensive program of seminars, symposia, and other meetings focused on a large array of topics in clinical research and related technology.
QualificationsEducation:
PhD, MD or equivalent required. Experience in lieu of a degree not accepted.
$70,000.00 - $71,750.00 per year.
Position SummaryPropose and undertake a mentored, innovative project or challenge to develop novel molecular therapies for retinal degenerative diseases. Design and perform in vitro and animal experiments, analyze and present the outcome.
Essential Functions- Read, analyze and summarize published literature
- Design and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments
- Undertake relevant coursework if required by mentor
- Attend relevant meetings
- Meet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestones
- Plan and deliver a seminar on the project
- Take administrative responsibilities (inventory, purchasing, etc.) in the lab when necessary
- Write a final report or submit a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal describing the project and results
