The Department of Medicine, Section of Nephrology is recruiting for a pre‑doctoral research fellow to work within Dr. Jin Wei’s research team. The basic research group focuses on the role of the juxtaglomerular apparatus in regulating renal hemodynamics and systemic blood pressure. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join our research team.
Responsibilities- Perform bench work and animal surgeries
- Provide animal care and maintenance
- Collect and analyze data
- Generate figures and prepare manuscripts
- Support the principal investigator and research team in executing research projects, interpreting experimental results, and preparing data for presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications
- Assist with laboratory management and daily operations, including maintaining laboratory organization, monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety regulations
- Education:
Must be enrolled in a PhD program or possess equivalent training in a field related to the research project - Experience:
Prior experience in wet‑lab research preferred; experience with animal models (e.g., mice) or willingness to learn animal handling and surgical techniques preferred - Knowledge and
Skills:
Proficiency with molecular biology, biochemistry, or physiology techniques (PCR, Western blot, histology, cell culture, microscopy) is a plus;
Ability to follow detailed experimental protocols and maintain accurate research records;
Strong organizational and analytical skills;
Excellent English communication skills (oral and written);
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications;
Experience with data analysis or statistical software is a plus;
Ability to work independently and as part of a research team;
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and institutional animal care regulations;
Ability to maintain accurate and confidential research records
Compensation Range: $54,000 – $58,500
