LABORATORY SUPERVISOR, School of Medicine, Anatomy & Neurobiology
This position supports and advances research focused on the neurobiological bases of age‑related cognitive decline and recovery of function following brain injury in rhesus monkeys. The role involves independent management of complex laboratory operations and performance of highly specialized scientific procedures, including brain tissue harvesting, freezing, sectioning, and histological analyses. Maintains inventory and handles procurement for the laboratory.
Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with institutional biosafety (IBC) and USDA regulations, maintaining research integrity through effective data and biospecimen management, and coordinating research activities among students, technicians, and collaborators. The position plays a key role in organizing major research events such as perfusions and euthanasia of USDA‑regulated species.
Although this position does not include formal supervisory authority, it provides guidance, training, and oversight to junior laboratory members to ensure accuracy, safety, and consistency in laboratory practices.
Required Skills- Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of related experience.
