Research Scientist, Clinical Research
Position Summary
Independent contributor in a health services and implementation research program focused on substance use disorders, chronic disease management, and improving care delivery for Medicaid and safety‑net populations. Leads design, execution, and evaluation of innovative research studies, analyzes complex data, interprets results, prepares manuscripts, and presents findings at national and international meetings.
Responsibilities- Initiate and participate in the design, execution, and evaluation of research projects.
- Manage day‑to‑day operations of ongoing research projects or project sections.
- Prepare research proposals for federal agencies and sponsors; coordinate grant writing efforts.
- Develop statistical analysis plans, conduct descriptive and advanced analyses, and maintain large administrative or clinical datasets.
- Design and perform quantitative experiments, producing progress reports for the mentor.
- Collaborate with research staff on peer‑reviewed manuscripts, reports, abstracts, and poster presentations.
- Present research outcomes to regional, state, and national audiences.
- Assist in training and evaluation of research technicians, students, and support personnel.
- Attend departmental and operational meetings as required; comply with institutional safety and research‑compliance policies.
- MD and/or PhD required.
- Post‑doctoral experience in related research preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of quantitative data and experience with statistical analysis tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web browsers; database tools preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Self‑directed, able to prioritize tasks and balance multiple responsibilities.
Annual salary range: $65,000 – $75,000.
