Position Summary
The Department of Medicine, Section of Nephrology is recruiting a pre‑doctoral research fellow to work within Dr. Jin Wei’s research team. Our basic research group focuses on the role of the juxtaglomerular apparatus in regulating renal hemodynamics and systemic blood pressure. The Fellow will perform experiments, care for animals, collect and analyze data, maintain accurate research records, and assist with general laboratory operations.
The Fellow will also support the principal investigator and research team in executing research projects, interpreting experimental results, and preparing data for presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications.

Schedule: 40 hours per week
Job Responsibilities- Perform bench work, animal surgeries, and animal care.
- Collect and analyze data, generate figures, and prepare manuscripts.
- Support the principal investigator and research team in collaborative projects.
- Assist with laboratory management and daily operations, including maintaining laboratory organization, monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety regulations.
- Must be enrolled in a PhD program or have equivalent training in a field related to the research project.
- Prior experience in wet‑lab research preferred.
- Experience working with animal models (e.g., mice) or willingness to learn animal handling and surgical techniques preferred.
- Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, or physiology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blot, histology, cell culture, or microscopy) is a plus.
- Ability to follow detailed experimental protocols and maintain accurate research records.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with data analysis or statistical software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a research team.
- Must be able to follow laboratory safety procedures and institutional animal care regulations.
- Must be able to maintain accurate and confidential research records.

Compensation Range$54,000 - $58,500 per year, plus competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, discretionary bonuses, merit increases, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) savings match, paid time off, and more.
