Biotech Research, Research Scientist, Genetics / Genomics
We are seeking an experienced NGS Scientist to join the Cardiometabolic Research (CMR) team in Boston, MA. The team focuses on the discovery and early-stage clinical development of biologics, small molecules, oligonucleotide products, and cell therapies for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and related metabolic disorders.
The successful candidate will support Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) operations, including RNA-seq, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq), and other sequencing workflows. This is a cross-functional role that will support multiple research groups and contribute to advancing innovative therapeutic programs.
Candidates with strong hands‑on experience in single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) and/or single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) are highly preferred. The hiring manager is particularly interested in candidates who have independently performed library preparation, quality control, and sequencing workflows using platforms such as 10x Genomics Chromium, Parse Biosciences, Scale Bio, or similar technologies
.
- Execute NGS library preparation workflows, including bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, and snRNA-seq.
- Perform library quantification, quality control, and sequencing activities.
- Develop and implement new NGS workflows to support evolving research needs.
- Create and follow SOPs to ensure consistent production of high‑quality sequencing data.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and manage multiple sequencing requests simultaneously.
- Deliver sequencing data within established timelines and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
- Manage inventory of DNA, RNA, sequencing libraries, and reagents.
- Perform additional molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction, qPCR, and ddPCR as needed.
- Maintain accurate experimental records and sequencing performance data in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Support assessment and standardization of sample preparation and sequencing workflows across sites and CRO partners (no travel required).
- BS or MS degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of laboratory research experience in molecular biology and NGS workflows.
- Strong expertise in nucleic acid extraction, purification, quantification, NGS library preparation, quality control, and qPCR.
- Hands‑on experience with NGS technologies, sequencing workflows, data QC, and Illumina platforms.
- Direct experience with bulk RNA‑seq and amplicon sequencing.
- Required experience with single‑cell and single‑nucleus RNA sequencing library preparation.
- Familiarity with multiple scRNA‑seq/snRNA‑seq platforms such as:
