Job Description & How to Apply Below

Absco Therapeutics is pioneering a new approach to immuno‑oncology. Our proprietary platform combines precision drug delivery with immune engineering to transform the tumor microenvironment and generate durable local and systemic anti‑tumor responses. Built on science from MIT, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, we are developing therapies for cancers and precancerous diseases that remain underserved by existing treatment options.

Our lead program is advancing a non‑surgical treatment for precancerous cervical disease, with the potential to preserve reproductive health, eliminate the underlying viral driver, and reduce disease recurrence. As we expand our pipeline, we are building a team of exceptional scientists to translate innovative ideas into transformative therapies.

About the Role

We are seeking a creative and driven Senior Scientist to help shape the future of our oncology pipeline. This is a highly visible, hands‑on role for a scientist who thrives at the intersection of cancer biology, immunology, and translational research. You will design and lead critical in vivo and translational studies, generate data that directly informs development decisions, and work closely with company leadership to advance our lead program toward the clinic.

Beyond executing experiments, you will help define scientific strategy, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the growth of a rapidly evolving biotechnology platform.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of in vivo oncology studies to evaluate efficacy, mechanism of action, pharmacology, and translation across pipeline programs
  • Mentor and supervise research associates and interns, fostering excellence and collaboration
  • Contribute to pipeline strategy, target evaluation, and next‑generation platform opportunities
  • Design and execute murine tumor studies, including syngeneic, orthotopic, subcutaneous, and immune memory/rechallenge models
  • Manage CROs and vendors supporting bioanalytical, pharmacology, and translational studies
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments using flow cytometry, ELISA, IVIS imaging, and related experimental techniques
  • Present findings and recommendations to cross‑functional teams and company leadership
  • Support broader development activities, including regulatory documentation, grant applications, and representation of Absco Therapeutics at conferences.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and up‑to‑date laboratory notebooks and experimental records in accordance with company policies and documentation standards
Qualifications
  • PhD in Cancer Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline, with 2–5 years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience following a PhD and/or postdoctoral training
  • Strong foundation in cancer biology, tumor immunology, and the tumor microenvironment
  • Track record of independent study design, generating quality data to influence program decisions
  • Experience supervising at least one direct report, with a demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and support the development of junior scientists
  • Hands‑on expertise with rodent oncology models, including tumor implantation, dosing, monitoring, and tissue harvest
  • Expertise in flow cytometry, immune profiling, IVIS, and common translational assays (e.g., ELISA)
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours when needed to support experimental timelines
  • Ability to travel regularly to an off‑site vivarium
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to federal funding requirements
  • Experience coordinating with CROs and external collaborators is preferred
