General Summary

The Research Associate will work across several grant‑funded projects addressing issues of aging, including elder mistreatment and dementia care. Projects include the National Collaboratory to Address Elder Mistreatment (NCAEM) Phase IV, which integrates elder‑mistreatment prevention and intervention into mainstream health and social care; and the Detection of Elder Mistreatment Through Emergency Care Technicians – Revised for Primary Care (DETECT‑RPC), an NIA‑funded study adapting a screening tool for home‑based primary care.

The Associate assists with all aspects of the research and evaluation program—developing protocols, designing and managing data‑collection procedures, recruiting participants, developing surveys, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, coding qualitative information, and cleaning datasets. The role collaborates closely with Principal Investigators, project teams, and national partners to implement strategic action plans across health systems, states, and health plans. Responsibilities include executing core project components such as working‑group strategic plans, developing implementation‑science products, evaluating and mapping evidence, mentoring leadership, strategic dissemination, and sustainability planning.

of Duties
  • Contribute to competitive research projects, either in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or investigator‑initiated funding opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to clients and partners.
  • In collaboration with senior investigators, identify promising research directions that align with the program’s mission.
  • Contribute, edit, and submit peer‑reviewed journal articles that advance the knowledge base.
  • Facilitate regular communication with co‑investigators on research projects.
  • Manage research projects responsibly and in a timely fashion, troubleshooting and identifying needed modifications when difficulties arise.
  • Design and/or help implement program evaluation and research plans, methods, and approaches to assess implementation and impact of project activities.
  • Conduct literature reviews of existing studies and write summaries and white papers.
  • Write program evaluation and research reports.
  • Supervise graduate research assistants as required.
  • Maintain an organized and accessible repository of all project files, documents, and reports.
  • Participate in all team meetings and external meetings.
  • Plan and execute virtual focus groups.
  • Engage in qualitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Collaborate to produce written materials and reports for external funders.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in quantitative research methods, statistical analysis, survey design, and data management are required. Experience with qualitative data analysis and older‑population research is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.

. This is an exempt union position. It is a grant‑funded role with a current end date of September 30, 2027, subject to renewal contingent on funding and university needs. All official salary offers must be approved by Human Resources.
