Summary
The Hyman lab studies the molecular pathology of neuro‑degeneration. A recent focus has been the discovery of specific tau oligomeric species that have the properties of self‑templating, interfere with neuronal firing, and may contribute to neuronal death. Understanding the biophysical properties that make these oligomers unique, and the specific pathways that lead to impairment of neuronal function and health, are critical questions at the heart of many of our experiments.
