Job Summary Research Scientist, Per Diem The BWH Division of Genetics is an academic unit within the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Mass General Brigham, and Harvard Medical School. The Division conducts research and training that covers broad areas of genetics and the biomedical sciences. An important goal of the Division is to build synergy and collaboration with other units within Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School, and beyond to enable fundamental and translational scientific discoveries that will help diagnose, prevent, and treat human diseases.
The Cole Lab research involves the chemical biology of protein post-translational modifications (PTMs) in the context of signaling, epigenetics, and cancer. The Cole lab develops and applies chemical approaches, including protein semisynthesis and small molecule probes, to the study of protein phosphorylation, acetylation, ubiquitination, and other PTMs in enzymes and cellular networks. The lab is currently investigating the functions, regulation, and mechanisms of PTEN lipid phosphatase, Akt protein kinase, NEDD4 ubiquitin ligases, LSD1 histone demethylase, HDAC1 deacetylase, the CoREST complex, and p300/CBP acetyltransferase.
The lab strives to translate their findings in signaling and epigenetics to identify novel therapeutic opportunities for the treatment of cancer and other consultation with Dr. Phil Cole, Principal Investigator (PI), this individual will undertake and execute a program of scientific study culminating in publication. They will drive research projects scientifically and determines the course of research as evidenced by leadership, obtaining funding, writing, or other recognition.
This individual may not necessarily receive independent resources; however, their contribution is essential to the conceptual/scientific success of the project. They may assist Dr. Cole in the training and supervision of other laboratory personnel and in a wide variety of administrative tasks, as necessary.

Presents results and prepares publications.
May assist PI in the training and supervision of other staff.
Qualifications Education Doctorate Related Field of Study required
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
No Experience Previous Research experience (inclusive of graduate and postdoctoral experience) 5-7 years required
