Position Summary
The Flynn Lab investigates fundamental questions at the intersection of RNA biology and glycobiology. We are hiring for a Staff Scientist position intended to be a long-term, project-focused role with some responsibility for operating laboratory facilities. We are seeking someone with experience in RNA, molecular, and cell biology who will manage long-term scientific projects in the lab, exploring topics such as how glycoRNAs are made and their functional roles, and more generally topics concerning cell surface biology and biochemistry.
This will occur through direct communication and mentoring with the PI. Outside scientific work, this individual will assist the PI to maintain lab organization and operations, estimated at ~20% of time per week.
- Design and perform wet-lab experiments in collaboration with the PI
- Analyze experiments with the PI
- Organize lab orders and stocks of reagents with the PI
- Organize lab events (e.g., lab meetings) with the PI
- Coordinate cross-project responsibilities (meeting times, shipping items, etc.) with the PI
- Train new lab members in web-lab skills known by a Staff Scientist
Education:
- Master s Degree
Experience:
- At least 7 years of relevant research experience
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology assays, and chemical biology skills
- Prior use of FACS machines and microscopes would be ideal
