Research Technician - Brain Game Center for Mental Fitness and Well-Being
About the Opportunity:
Aaron Seitz and Susanne Jaeggi at the Brain Game Center for Mental Fitness and Well-Being seek Research Technicians to assist in studies focused on measuring and training cognitive processes. Primary responsibilities include leading and managing studies focused on digital cognitive assessments (e.g., vision, hearing, attention, memory, etc.) and digital cognitive training programs. We work with diverse populations, including ages (children to older adults), neurodiverse individuals, and those with perceptual and cognitive needs.
Candidates should be sensitive to the needs of different people and backgrounds, and have strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills to work with PIs, graduate students, undergraduates, programmers, designers, community partners, and national/international collaborators.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Develop study tools (e.g., tracking forms, questionnaires, administration protocols), train research assistants on study procedures, and run participants through study procedures
- Lead project meetings, coordinating with team members to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure continuous advancement toward research objectives
- Engage with potential participants through recruitment methods (e.g., flyers, ads, events) and train, support, and supervise research assistants and staff to assist with participant recruitment
- Verify participant data daily to ensure accurate data collection and process data with MATLAB, Python, and R scripts as needed
- Prepare and maintain IRB materials, ensuring compliance with approved procedures
- Oversee ordering, inventory, and management of lab equipment and office supplies; collaborate with finance and IT to coordinate equipment procurement
- Supervise daily lab operations, address issues, and report them to supervisors
- BA/BS degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Education, or related technical field
- Experience with IRB and clinical trial procedures
- One to three years of academic or professional experience in a research lab
- Ability to keep accurate and detailed records of research data
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and solution-focused problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including evening/after-hours and weekend hours, and to travel off-site for recruitment events
- Experience working with older adults, children, and managing undergraduate staff
- Experience managing different large-scale projects
- Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, and R

Expected Hiring Range: $20.47 - $28.14
With the pay range shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, including education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
