Position Summary

The Research Assistant will support clinical research activities in the Waikar Research Group within the Nephrology Section. This role works closely with the Research Program Manager and other research staff to support study participants and research operations in both clinical and research settings.

Job Responsibilities
  • Recruit and screen clinical research participants; interact by phone, email, and in person.
  • Complete informed consent documents and enroll participants in the research protocol.
  • Answer participant questions and explain the clinical trial in a clear, meaningful manner.
  • Collect, document, and submit study data and samples accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain participant databases and assistance with preparation of reports and study documentation.
  • Assist with participant recruitment and scheduling, administering questionnaires, reviewing medical records, and supporting regulatory tasks.
  • Handle basic bio‑specimen processing in compliance with established protocols.
  • Assist with manuscript preparation and other project‑related tasks as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Research Program Manager and other research staff to support daily study operations and ad‑hoc duties.
Job Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (preferred in chemistry, biology or other science).
    Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree at the time of hiring; preference for a science degree.
  • Preferred prior experience in clinical research and/or public health.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally with participants, providers, and research staff.
  • Spanish or Haitian Creole speaking preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Experience with statistical software preferred.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of all personal and health‑sensitive information.
