The HIDIVE Lab in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School is conducting research at the interface between human and artificial intelligence. We create methods and tools that enable humans and machines alike to interact with and generate insights from biomedical data. In our work, we combine state‑of‑the‑art biomedical informatics, data visualization, and AI/ML techniques across the full spectrum of biomedical data.

Your RoleAs a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the lab, you will take a scientific leadership role and be in charge of one or more research projects. Under the mentorship of the principal investigator, you will develop and execute strategies for publishing, collaboration, and funding acquisition (grants, industry sponsorship) to support and disseminate your work. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior lab members (interns, Masters and PhD students) and occasionally participate in teaching and outreach.
Research Fellows typically stay in the lab for a period of around 2—4 years with the aim of leading a research group as their next career step. Alternative career paths can be supported as well but the primary goal is to prepare Research Fellows for success as an independent researcher in academic or non‑profit settings.
- Publish, collaborate, and acquire funding (grants, industry sponsorship) to support and disseminate your work.
- Mentor junior lab members (interns, Masters and PhD students) and occasionally participate in teaching and outreach.
- Generative AI for visual exploration of biomedical data
- Interfaces for collaboration with AI Co‑Scientists
- Multimodal clinical data visualization, including EHR, imaging, genomics, and clinical trial data
- Mixed Reality for 2D and 3D tissue data visualization in spatial biology
- Communication and interactive storytelling through biomedical data visualization
- Multimodal spatial and single‑cell data visualization
- 2D and 3D bioimaging data visualization
- Data analysis and data management infrastructure for biomedical data visualization
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in biomedical informatics, computer science, computational biology, data science or a related field.
- Peer‑reviewed publications in the top venues in your area of expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across scientific domains.
Additional Qualifications:
- If visa sponsorship is needed, Harvard retains the discretion to determine which visa status is appropriate and whether a visa sponsorship application will ultimately be submitted, including payment of any applicable fees.
