Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Sleep, Circadian Rhythms, Wearables, and Aging

Harvard Medical School & Massachusetts General Hospital

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our multidisciplinary research team at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. The position focuses on advancing research at the intersection of sleep and circadian physiology, cognitive function, and computational analysis of neurophysiological signals.

Qualifications
  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in a relevant field
  • Background or strong interest in sleep, circadian physiology, cognition, or neurophysiology
  • Strong scientific writing skills and a record of peer-reviewed publications
Preferred Research Background and Skills
  • Experience in human sleep and circadian, clinical, or dementia research
  • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages
  • Expertise in signal processing and statistical analysis
  • Experience with machine learning or deep learning
  • Interest in NIH grant writing
Examples of Research Projects
  • Characterizing multidimensional physiological rhythms using wearable devices
  • Analyzing EEG, ECG/PPG, actigraphy, blood pressure, cognitive, and biomarker data
  • Developing signal-processing, statistical, and machine-learning methods for physiological data
  • Conducting laboratory and at-home studies of sleep and circadian rhythms
  • Using large cohorts (e.g., UK Biobank, All of Us) to study sleep, circadian rhythms, and brain health
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead participant recruitment, data collection, quality control, and analysis
  • Serve as project leader for controlled laboratory studies
  • Support participant-facing research activities
  • Work occasional nonstandard shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Prepare protocols, IRB materials, manuscripts, and grant applications
  • Collaborate with clinicians, engineers, data scientists, and trainees
  • Present research findings at scientific meetings
  • Mentor junior team members, as appropriate
