Research Scientist, Biotech Research
Amplitude Therapeutics is a seed-staged biotechnology company focusing on developing the next generation of RNAs to fully unlock the therapeutic potential of RNA biology. We are founded by leaders in the RNA and non-viral therapy fields and backed by premier Biotech VCs.
Amplitude Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I or II to grow our LNP formulations capability. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about being a part of a cross-functional team working to advance novel RNA medicines through delivery to common cell-types (e.g. liver, vaccine) and enable entirely new medicines by developing non-viral delivery to various high-priority cell-types including immune cells, HSCs, kidney and muscle.
Responsibilities will include design, preparation, and execution of LNP formulations with field-standard lipids and novel proprietary lipids/polymers, developing and implementing various LNP analytical tools across multiple through puts, and to interface with multiple efforts to support effective delivery for various research areas.
The ideal candidate will have relevant nanoparticle experience, preferably in the form on industry working with LNPs (targeted or untargeted). Comfortability with various methods of LNP formulation (e.g. microfluidic mixers) is preferred and a track-record of productivity & independence is strongly desired. Experience with scale-up of LNPs and tangential flow filtration (TFF) is a plus. This role is lab-based and a desire to be hands-on and at the bench is required.
Key responsibilities:- Design and execute LNP formulations of various scales that enable critical in vivo experiments
- Conduct formulations of novel LNPs as part of efforts to unlock delivery of RNA to high-priority cell-types
- Conduct small-scale LNP process development work to define critical quality attributes of hit LNPs
- Rigorously track data to link LNP physicochemical properties with in vivo performance
- Responsible for carefully documenting research and effectively communicating results across teams.
- B.A., M.S. or Ph.D. with 8+, 6+, or 2+ years of relevant industry experience, respectively.
- Hands-on experience of mRNA-LNP formulation and physicochemical characterization is required
- Familiarity with field-standard lipids (e.g. ALC-315, CL1, MC3, SM-102) is required
- Familiarity with LNP characterization assays (e.g. DLS, ribogreen, TNS) is required
- Knowledge of LNP process development, scale-up, and TFF is preferable
- Familiarity with software such as Graph Pad Prism, Microsoft Office, and electronic laboratory notebooks for data analysis and data summary.
- Highly motivated and able to be flexible in case of changing priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
