The Dries Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to develop scalable computational methods and high-performance software tools for spatial omics data analysis. Positioned at the intersection of software engineering and oncology, this role involves designing robust analytical pipelines using R, SQL, and Rust, while assisting lab members in analyzing and interpreting complex spatial datasets.
Plans and executes clinical studies. Implements and modifies experimental protocols. Performs data analyses. Interprets experimental results, prepares and writes manuscripts in conjunction with principal investigators. In collaboration with PI and other researchers, presents research findings at sectional and national meetings. Assists in general clinical functions of the department as part of ongoing training.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIESSome or all of the following:
- Performs analyses of clinical case data with the goal of evaluating research methods. Assists in the design of protocols and the selection of analysis techniques.
- Advises other staff on method development, troubleshooting and modifying research protocols, and the writing of abstracts.
- Collaboratively designs experimental protocols to obtain research objectives. Develops, implements, troubleshoots, and modifies methodologies as necessary.
- Records and analyzes data using statistical software.
- Participates in the interpretation of results through conferences with the Principal Investigators and other researchers.
- Collaborates in the writing of abstracts and manuscripts. Participates in the presentation of research reports at national and local meetings.
- Carries out independent literature searches in order to locate new techniques or other results.
- Undertakes ongoing clinical training through self-study as well as mentoring by other members of the staff.
- Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.
- Utilizes hospital's Values as the basis for decision-making and to facilitate the division's hospital mission.
- Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
EDUCATION :
Requires Doctoral degree (PhD).
The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in Genomics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field, with strong programming fundamentals and a solid background or interest in translational biological data.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES- Extensive knowledge of basic sciences, including pure or applied physics and mathematics.
- Requires proficiency with standard Microsoft programs and statistical analysis tools.
- Must be able to make effective and appropriate decisions in research situations.
- Requires thorough knowledge of scientific principles, the ability to solve technical problems, and strong analytical skills commensurate with the collaborative execution of research projects.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with personnel from various specialties.
- Must demonstrate motivation to contribute strongly to the research effort as well as to develop personal skills relevant to independent work in a clinical setting.
