Boston, MA 02115 (Onsite) Duration: 12 Months Contract Pay Rate: $34.07/Hr on W2

Work Schedule:

1st Shift - 8am – 5pm (Monday – Friday)

This is a hands-on, onsite Molecular Biology Contractor role supporting the molecular biology core within Discovery Biologics at Client Research Laboratories in Boston. The contractor will support high-throughput molecular cloning workflows, including DNA preparation, plasmid cloning, microbial transformation, media preparation, sample labeling/aliquoting, registration, record keeping, and use of automation/liquid-handling equipment. The role is lab-heavy, routine, detail-oriented, and requires strong documentation and sample-tracking skills.

  • Molecular biology and recombinant DNA techniques
  • Plasmid cloning and DNA preparation
  • Microbial transformation and culture handling, including bacteria and yeast
  • Media preparation and sterilization
  • PCR, restriction digestion, DNA purification, SDS-PAGE, and western blot experience
  • Wet lab experience and willingness to perform routine lab-based work
  • Sample preparation, labeling, aliquoting, and registration
  • Lab automation or liquid-handling equipment experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Electronic notebook/database documentation and sample tracking
  • DNA analysis software experience such as Geneious Prime or Snap Gene
  • Excel proficiency
  • Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability skills
  • BA/BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline;
    Master's degree is a plus

  • BA/BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology and recombinant DNA technologies.
  • Fluent in microbial transformation and handling.
  • Passion to work in lab.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organization, effective communication skills and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

Experience and skills:

  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, restriction enzyme digestion, DNA purification, SDS-PAGE, western blot and microbial transformation (bacteria, yeast). Hands-on experience in molecular biology and recombinant DNA technologies.
  • Knowledge of DNA analysis software (e.g., Geneious Prime).
  • Lab automation experience.

The successful candidate will employ molecular biology and microbiology techniques to support all aspects of high-throughput molecular cloning including DNA preparation, host transformation, host growth, protein expression, sample labeling, aliquoting, record keeping in our database and electronic notebook and other related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day tasks to support operation of the molecular biology core

  • Fulfill molecular cloning and DNA prep. requests and deliver purified DNA as requested
  • Accurately handle sample preparation, aliquoting, labeling and registration
