Associate in Cell Biology

The Gygi lab in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School is searching for an Associate. Responsibilities will include training in the area of mass spectrometry-based proteomics, independent research with a goal of producing a publication surrounding work performed in the interactome pipeline, participation in the planning and execution of interactome pipeline research, and manuscript writing. Associate will select their own independent research project.

For more than 8 years, the lab has been systematically collecting protein-protein interaction data. There are many thousands of human genes for which we now have some idea about its biological role. This individual will create a research plan around illuminating the function of a human gene where little to nothing was previously known about its role in human health and disease.

This position will also interact with other labs in the Department of Cell Biology depending on the research project selected. There is the possibility to work with hospital labs if their expertise in the subject area is needed. This position is a stepping stone for those interested in being trained for future work in graduate or medical school in the area of protein-protein interactions work.
