Position Overview:

The Department of Medicine at Boston Medical Center and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine seeks a Vice Chair to provide strategic leadership for its clinical, population health, and implementation science research portfolio. The leader will advance high‑impact, patient‑centered, and equity‑driven research that improves care delivery, health outcomes, and health system performance—particularly for underserved populations. In close partnership with the Vice Chair for Basic and Translational Science, the role will align the full research continuum, identify emerging opportunities, and guide strategic investments in faculty, infrastructure, and innovative methodologies, including the integration of data science and AI to enhance research and care transformation.

• Drive growth in externally funded research through a diversified funding strategy.
• Strengthen infrastructure for clinical trials, data analytics, informatics, and implementation research.
• Embed research within clinical operations and promote real‑world and community‑engaged research.
• Recruit, mentor, and support a diverse pipeline of investigators and develop career pathways for early‑stage researchers.
• Co‑lead an equitable compensation strategy that incentivizes high‑quality scholarship.
• Represent the department in institutional governance and elevate the visibility and impact of its research nationally.

• Medical degree.
• Associate or full professor rank.
• Experience in clinical and implementation sciences.
• Track record of external funding, national recognition, and a strong publication record.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high‑performing research teams.
