The Scientist II works on complex projects related to the field with minimal supervision. Has a wide latitude for independent judgement and may assist less-experienced peers. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contributes technical proficiency and scientific creativity.

The Freed-Pastor laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking an exceptionally motivated and experienced PhD-level scientist (Scientist II) to join Cancer Grand Challenges - Team ILLUMINE to investigate the Cancer Dark Proteome and drive the development of innovative cellular therapies for pancreatic cancer. This position is primarily a hands-on bench role focused on rigorous data generation and direct experimental execution. In addition to bench work, the ideal candidate will take ownership of essential laboratory operations and coordinate efforts across this multi-institutional team.

The successful candidate will be integral to a multidisciplinary team focused on the discovery, preclinical evaluation, and advancement towards clinical trials of novel immunotherapies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Works on problems of moderate to large scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Works under minimal supervision. Wide latitude for independent judgment
  • Independently design, execute, and analyze experiments focused on the discovery and characterization of T-cell receptors (TCRs) and chimeric antigen receptors (CARs)
  • Conduct rigorous ex vivo and in vivo preclinical studies of lead cellular therapy candidates. This includes meticulous data collection and analysis.
  • Establish and utilize patient-derived organoids and patient-derived xenografts for antigen discovery and preclinical testing
  • Perform rigorous data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of experimental results at laboratory meetings, and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and presentations at scientific conferences.

Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Six to nine years experience post undergraduate degree.
  • One to two year work experience post education.
