This Is What You Will Do
The Regional Account Manager (RAM) position is within our Hematology and Nephrology Franchise, a division of Alexion, and will focus on aHUS. The RAM will be assigned a sales territory focused on Academic Centers, Community Hospital Systems, Physician Clinics, and Infusion Centers primarily focused on Nephrology and Hematology. This individual would be responsible for the growth and expansion of the aHUS portfolio.
Will Be Responsible For
- Consistently achieving or exceeding sales objectives in assigned territory
- Creating and maintaining strategically targeted account-specific business plans that reflect an in-depth understanding of local market forces impacting product sales
- Developing and maintaining strong in-depth clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge
- Collaborating closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders, including PNH Regional Account Manager(s), TLL(s), SAL(s), MSL(s), FRM(s), PEM(s), Market Access, Diagnostics, and enterprise partners
- Handling customer questions and objections in a way that is consistent with product indications and sales training methodology, including triaging inquiries to the appropriate partner
- Educating on the clinical approach to specific disease states, leading to a successful differential diagnosis and appropriate testing of focus patient populations
- Understanding and demonstrating proper use of products to clinicians in hospital and infusion center environments
- Leading the implementation for our patient-centric partnership model with physicians, their staff, patients, clinics, and hospitals
- Effectively utilizing CRM tools to manage time, resources and workload, including accurately tracking sales activities and submitting required reports
- Executing local promotional activities and programs for therapeutic areas
- Providing a high level of product expertise and customer service to all accounts
- Proactively interacting with Alexion management to refine product and market initiatives
- Performing work in alignment with and adhering to all Alexion’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and Alexion policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device) or 5 years’ experience in a medical setting
- Proven, documented track record for delivering consistent, 'Top-tier' sales results in Institutions and hospital systems
- Ability to work independently as well as interdependently in a team-oriented environment
- Strong clinical acumen and account-based selling, analytical and strategic skills to successfully develop accounts
- Demonstrated ability to seek out and qualify leads and profile new accounts
- Ability to gain consistent access and develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers in community and academic centers
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities
- Must live in the geographic territory or within 50 miles of the territory border
- Ability to travel within territory on a regular basis, including frequent overnight and weekend travel
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Role primarily conducted in a field environment; travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane may be required; ability to work in clinical settings; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours
- Advanced or master’s degree
- 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device)
- Sales experience in the orphan or ultra-orphan area
- Bio/Pharma;
Nephrology, and/or Oncology experience
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $152,000 to $229,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors including location, knowledge, skills, and experience. The role offers a short-term incentive bonus opportunity and eligibility to participate in equity-based long-term incentives (salaried roles) or a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits include a 401(k) plan, paid vacation and holidays, paid leaves, and health benefits (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision) in accordance with plan terms.
