Overview

As a Solution Engineer you collaborate with the customer, the Products team, and Professional Services to develop thoughtful solutions that help our customers connect with their audiences in new ways. It is a dynamic, fast‑paced environment where design, business consulting, and technology expertise drive innovation.

The SE must have a strong desire to demonstrate their technical and/or sales skills, including the ability to solicit business requirements, develop a technical sales strategy, configure and demonstrate solutions that address these requirements, and provide business value.

The SE team is organized into several smaller teams based on the products sold or the industry/vertical served. We also operate Core Teams that sell the entire Salesforce Platform and Co‑Prime teams that specialize in specific cloud solutions such as Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Heroku, Quip, and more. We hire based on skills and experience and are open to all levels for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • A Solution Engineer aligns innovative strategies to technology solutions within complex accounts, partnering with clients and collaborating with internal teams and C‑level contacts to drive consensus on multi‑product solutions across the Salesforce product lines.
  • Work on a wide array of assignments including business development, operations and IT strategies, and executive‑level product demonstrations, acting as a trusted advisor to drive innovative solutions and improve business performance.
  • Take ambiguous and sophisticated business problems, conduct research and business assessment, define the problem, drive innovative ideas, recommend practical next steps, and define the opportunity set.
  • Bring focus to a client’s decision‑making process by communicating and evaluating solution options, driving consensus among key collaborators, and helping develop new decision frameworks and governance processes that deliver lasting value.
  • Demonstrate how connected experiences come to life with Salesforce solutions through software demos, rapid prototyping, executive‑level demonstrations, future‑state customer journey strategies, and long‑term IT roadmaps.
  • Assist the customer, Account Executive and Professional Services team with discovery, analysis, and recommendation of strategic solutions, delivering transformational pitches based on live product demonstrations that validate solutions for the customer.
  • Discover the customer’s business needs and position the best Salesforce solution to achieve those objectives.
  • Build and present customized solutions and demonstrations focused on Salesforce products to multiple customer personas, showing how Salesforce accelerates their business strategies and provides a clear path to value.
  • Show deep understanding of the customer’s architecture as it relates to Salesforce’s solutions.
  • Orchestrate and lead cross‑functional solution guides, aligning them to the opportunity strategy.
  • Develop and deliver the story of the customer experience aided by Salesforce technologies.
  • Participate in all relevant product, sales, and procedural training and certifications to acquire and maintain essential knowledge.
  • Travel as required based on territory alignment and region.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or MIS.
  • Knowledge of related applications, relational database and web technology.
  • Solid oral, written, presentation, collaboration and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to solve technical problems in varied political environments.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce certifications.
  • Previous experience as a solution/sales engineer for a CRM company or similar technology.
