The Regional Director (RD) is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales goals and the development and performance of all sales activities in an assigned market. The RD will recruit, build, lead and coach a new, high‑performing field sales team of Territory Business Managers (TBMs). This is a high‑visibility, entrepreneurial leadership role. As the first‑line leader, you will transform a group of new hires into a cohesive, competitive unit and leverage advanced analytics, market research, and local geographic trends to pinpoint untapped business opportunities and construct comprehensive regional business plans for flawless execution at launch.

Responsibilities
  • Translate strategy to execution:
    Interpret national and area sales strategies, formulating localized region‑level business plans that capitalize on market opportunities and address competitive dynamics.
  • Data‑driven decision making:
    Analyze market data, sales trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify growth opportunities, adjust tactics proactively, and drive accountability across the region.
  • Lead a team of Territory Business Managers (TBMs) to promote to targeted physicians and accounts to achieve specific business goals.
  • Direct TBMs in the acquisition, expansion and retention of targeted business within the assigned geographic area.
  • Full engagement and cultivation of key accounts and customers by developing and implementing strategies that support the growth of products.
  • Field coaching & mentorship:
    Spend consistent time in the field conducting live calls with TBMs and providing real‑time, constructive, actionable feedback to elevate sales capabilities, clinical/scientific knowledge, and execution.
  • Attract, coach, develop and retain individuals who will ensure high level performance and demonstrate strong capability in selling skills, account management and compliant customer engagement.
  • Territory management:
    Oversee and optimize the assigned geographic territory, managing resource allocation, budget execution and performance metrics to meet or exceed business goals.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration:
    Partner effectively with internal stakeholders (such as FRMs, TLLs, marketing, training, compliance and medical affairs) to align field initiatives and ensure seamless execution of brand strategies.
  • Comply with all legal, regulatory and compliance policies and demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism at all times.
  • Additional duties as required.
Requirements
  • Player/coach mentality willing to roll up sleeves to be successful.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business or related field required.
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical, medical or related sales experience.
  • 3+ years first‑line sales leadership experience in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical field.
    • Candidates may be considered with extensive GI/Hepatology experience and have completed a management candidate program without first‑line sales leadership.
  • Rare disease/hepatology/gastroenterology experience highly preferred.
  • Previous team and new product launch experience in a specialty disease area.
  • Ability to learn complex scientific information, apply technical proficiency and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading successful sales teams in a competitive environment requiring initiative, accountability and compliant actions.
  • Solid business acumen, including ability to access and interpret company‑provided territory data for call planning and execution.
  • Proficiency with CRM, AI tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 60% required, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel.
Salary

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $200,000 to $215,000. Actual salary will vary based on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Some positions may include a company car or car allowance and eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and/or individual performance.
