Director of Business Development Overview
- The Director of Business Development will lead strategic sales initiatives within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with decision-makers to uncover sales opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align offerings with client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, driving awareness and generating leads.
- Lead bid defense and capabilities discussions, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
- Monitor and update lead pipelines, maintaining accurate CRM records.
- Contribute to the organization's growth by securing new business opportunities.
- Provide strategic direction on proposals and budgets to meet client expectations.
- Drive awareness of specific disease strategies to enhance lead generation efforts.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Identify and cultivate relationships with new clients in biotech and pharma sectors.
- Develop effective sales strategies to align offerings with customer needs.
- Collaborate with proposal teams to deliver comprehensive budgets and proposals.
- Attend industry conferences to represent the organization and network with prospects.
- Lead bid defense meetings, ensuring thorough preparation and follow-up.
- Maintain CRM system updates to track account activities and pipeline status.
- Communicate account activity to sales leaders and executives.
- Develop and implement disease-specific strategies to drive client engagement.
- Manage departmental metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or physical/life sciences.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, clinical, or related industries.
- Proven track record in sales, including relationship development and account closing.
- Strong strategic thinking and resourceful networking skills.
- Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management.
- Ability to lead bid defense and capabilities discussions effectively.
- Knowledge of clinical trial and regulatory consulting services preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work remotely and travel as needed for client engagements.
