Job Description
  • Perform lab-based experiments to develop synthesis and downstream processes for mRNA-based products. This includes planning and execution of designed experiments and operation of equipment (e.g. PCR, liquid handler, bioreactor, FPLC, TFF, UV-vis spectrophotometer, pH/conductivity meter, plate reader, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other functional teams (analytical, cell culture, formulation) in the lab to achieve project goals.
  • Manage lab supplies and mRNA-based drug substance inventory.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of laboratory experiments and results and summarize findings in an electronic notebook.
  • Meet required deadlines and communicate in a timely and effective manner to collaborators and stakeholders.
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. and/or M.S in biological or biochemical sciences (or a related field). B.S., 1-2 years of experience or M.S., less than 1 year experience.
  • Hands-on experience with RNA.
  • Hands-on experience with UV-Vis and PCR.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular cloning protocols and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation including thermocyclers, spectrophotometers, and liquid handlers.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with in vitro transcription (IVT) based mRNA synthesis and purification.
  • Familiarity with common separation technologies, such as chromatography, electrophoresis, and filtration.
  • Experience with statistical design of experiments (DOE).
  • Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation.
Additional Information

What to Expect in the Hiring Process:

  • 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or Group Leader.
  • 60 Minute In-Person Meeting with the Team.

Additional Details:

The position is full-time and permanent, Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates living near or in Boston, MA, are encouraged to apply.
