Overview
The Walensky laboratory of cancer chemical biology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Technician whose primary responsibility will be the synthesis, analysis, purification, and quantitation of designer peptides under the direction of a principal investigator who serves as a physician, scientist, and educator.

- Execute and optimize solid phase peptide synthesis conditions.
- Daily operation and maintenance of automated peptide synthesizers.
- Perform reverse-phase HPLC to analyze and purify peptide products on Agilent LC/MS machines.
- Perform analytical methods to quantify peptide products.
- Interface with lab members and collaborators; maintain peptide database; ensure compound quality control and timely delivery.
- Knowledge of information and techniques related to biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
- Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
Experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting, with small molecule or peptide synthesis experience a plus; experience with peptide purification and analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, MS); familiarity with laboratory automation platforms and instrumentation; experience maintaining SOPs and contributing to process optimization.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Pay range: $47,500.00 - $51,300.00
