Field Application Scientist
Slingshot Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Field Application Scientist (FAS) located in Boston, MA. In this pivotal role, you will provide exceptional technical support, drive customer success, and collaborate closely with Sales to expand our market presence. The position requires up to 50% travel within the designated region.
Location: Boston, MA (on-site).
Responsibilities- Perform pre‑sales activities in partnership with the sales team, including presentations, consultations, and product demonstrations.
- Ensure consistency in technical messaging and positioning across all customer interactions.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders to ensure continued satisfaction and success with Slingshot Biosciences’ products.
- Troubleshoot customer issues, optimize workflows, and maximize the value of our offerings.
- Gather and relay customer feedback to internal teams to drive product improvements and innovation.
- Provide market insights and competitive analysis to leadership and cross‑functional teams on market opportunities and customer needs.
- Represent Slingshot Biosciences at conferences, trade shows, and customer site visits to build brand awareness and industry relationships.
- Collaborate with product management, R&D, and marketing to push custom projects through to completion and review customer‑facing collateral.
- 4+ years of experience in the biotech industry or equivalent laboratory experience.
- 2+ years of experience running flow cytometry assays in the 8‑40 color range, with understanding of best practices, assay design, staining and data acquisition protocols, and ability to interpret data and troubleshoot experiments.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering) or equivalent experience;
Master’s or Ph.D. preferred. - Strong understanding of synthetic biology, flow cytometry, cell biology, or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to structure and deliver engaging presentations, distill complex ideas into simple explanations, and work collaboratively in a matrix environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to travel 50‑60% of the time or as required to meet with customers and support the sales team.
