Position Summary
The Research Assistant will perform research activities using approved techniques, conduct patient recruitment, administer questionnaires, abstract medical records, maintain patient databases, perform administrative tasks, assist in grant preparation, perform literature searches, and participate with the research team in preparation of data and other reports. May also assist the principal investigator with translation to Spanish or Haitian Creole, interpreting experimental results, and in preparing and writing manuscripts.
Responsibilities- Assist in data collection and provide feedback on study progress.
- Recruit subjects using approved methodologies, including referrals, clinic visits, mailouts, and advertisements.
- Conduct enrollment of study participants, explain procedures, and obtain informed consent.
- Schedule appointments, conduct reminder calls, and send mailouts.
- Obtain and distribute payment vouchers for reimbursements.
- Manage program records and communication needs.
- Prepare and maintain Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and correspondence, including amendments and renewals.
- Perform administrative duties associated with the study’s Data Monitoring and Safety Board, tracking and reporting adverse events and collecting DSMB‑specified data.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health‑sensitive information.
- Education – Minimum Bachelor’s degree at the time of hire.
- Experience – Prefer experience in clinical research, public health, working with children and families, and recruiting subjects with an understanding of the ethical and technical conduct of research.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – Excellent English communication skills (oral & written). Bilingual fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred. Cultural sensitivity and comfort with diverse populations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers. Knowledge of statistical software a plus. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
