Boston Lab Services (BLS) partners with leading biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and research organizations to provide laboratory operations and scientific support services that enable researchers to focus on discovery. We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and customer-oriented Environmental Services Technician to support chemistry laboratories and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) operations within client R&D facilities.
Position SummaryThe Environmental Services Technician supports day-to-day chemistry laboratory operations by safely handling, transporting, organizing, and managing chemicals and regulated materials throughout the research environment. Working closely with laboratory scientists, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and facilities teams, this role helps maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient laboratory while ensuring proper chemical storage, inventory, waste handling, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Support chemistry laboratories with the safe handling, movement, storage, and organization of chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Receive, inspect, label, and distribute chemical inventory throughout laboratory spaces.
- Collect, segregate, package, and prepare hazardous chemical waste for disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine inspections of chemical storage areas, satellite accumulation areas, and laboratory safety equipment.
- Assist with chemical inventory reconciliation, container labeling, and regulatory documentation.
- Coordinate hazardous waste pickups and maintain accurate environmental compliance records.
- Partner with laboratory scientists, EHS, and facilities teams to maintain safe laboratory operations.
- Follow OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and client-specific safety procedures.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and support safe laboratory practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory organization, safety, and operational efficiency.
Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Safety & Occupational Health, or a related scientific discipline, and/or one or more years of experience supporting chemistry laboratories, laboratory operations, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), hazardous waste management, or chemical handling in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, academic, or research environment. HAZWOPER 24- or 40-hour certification and familiarity with OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and other environmental and laboratory safety regulations are highly desirable.
