Job SummaryManages all phases of the research grant and contract administration, including grant related activities of an assigned portfolio of research departments. Provides guidance, resolves issues, and helps navigate the research proposal submission and application process. Responsible for budget development assistance, interpretation of sponsor requirements, as well as ensuring that proposals meet sponsor and institutional guidelines and regulations. Is expected to achieve Institutional Signing Authority and will support the highest complexity work.

Essential Functions- Processes and prepares research grant proposals, awards and transactions, maintaining grant/contract record in compliance with institutional and research sponsors.
- Prepares budgets, justifications, and materials for financial reporting.
- Identifies and prevents projected overruns, identifies cost sharing opportunities, proposes and implements creative solutions to potential fiscal issues.
- Ensures proposal compliance with sponsor and organizational guidelines; verify all sponsor requirements are met and documented in appropriate system.
- Serves as department or team grant management expert.
- Train and orient new staff.
- Supports highest complexity work and may achieve institutional signing authority.

- Proficient in spreadsheet, database, accounting and other computer applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Good organization and coordination skills.
- Ability to work with large financial data sets with accuracy.
- Good working knowledge of research agency, sponsor and organization funding guidelines and policies.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to make good judgements and resolve problems.
Under the direction of the Administrative Director for Research, The Senior Grant Administrator for Pre-Award will perform a full range of pre-award functions to support research personnel in the Department of Ob/Gyn s position provides guidance and support to all aspects of pre-award policies and procedures, preparing administrative materials and budgets for all grant submissions in the Department, progress reports, maintains PI Biosketch and Other Support pages, and functions as a liaison to Research Management/Pre-Award, Finance, and other federal and non-federal grantor agencies and subcontracting institutions.
They will work with PIs to address staffing needs- from posting to onboarding to offboarding and works to orient, educate, and inform the research community of updates from various sources within MGB. This role will also support the Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology by organizing research meetings, and research forums, updating research websites, and, purchasing, accounts payable, and database management.
The candidate must have well-developed organizational and communication skills capable of working independently to produce consistent quality work with minimal supervision and guidance.
