Position Summary
This position provides a critical role in linking individuals in need of emergency or non‑emergency assistance with the most appropriate Public Safety or Facilities resources while assigned to the 24/7/365 Public Safety Command and Control Center. The CCC Technician will triage telephone calls for service, monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Security Systems for alarms, alerts, and emergencies, and radio‑dispatch the appropriate personnel.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Operate, monitor, maintain and control computerized BAS and Public Safety systems in response to life safety issues, emergencies and service requests.
- Triage all incoming telephone calls into the C&C, obtain necessary information, assess appropriate resources, and assist callers professionally.
- Prioritize and manage multiple calls and situations simultaneously.
- Keep callers on the line to provide safety instructions and gather scene information when necessary.
- Assess situations and activate emergency procedures for immediate or urgent public safety, medical, law enforcement, or external intervention.
- Utilize two‑way radio equipment to communicate with public safety, facilities, and mechanical vendors.
- Maintain accurate records of all activity in the C&C, responses by personnel, and progress of facility work orders.
- Operate, enter, retrieve, and modify data in CJIS, LEAPS, and other in‑house computer systems while maintaining confidentiality (CJIS, HIPAA, private information).
- Disseminate law‑enforcement information regarding wanted persons, stolen vehicles, missing persons, and other relevant data.
- Manage the Mass Notification system (Send Word Now) to provide safety alerts or disaster notifications.
- Collaborate with internal and external technicians and vendors to service and maintain all facilities, BAS, and security systems.
- Initiate system trending and alarming via BAS and create logs/reporting accordingly.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- Proficient at multi‑tasking and prioritizing calls and emergencies.
- Quick learning of public safety and BAS systems and related technology.
- Completed required training/certification and maintain ongoing proficiency.
- Remain composed under stress and project confidence and control.
- Willing to work various shifts (day, evening, overnight, weekends, holidays) and overtime when necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in person and over the radio.
- Adhere to all BMC RESPECT behavioral standards.
High School diploma or equivalence certificate issued by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
PreferredAssociate’s degree or higher.
ExperienceKnowledge of Building Automation systems and emergency telecommunication training and experience is preferred.
