Overview
Position Summary and Per Diem:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all facilities across the hospital campus are functioning optimally. This role supports a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors through skilled maintenance, repairs, and preventive measures.
- Emergency Response:
Prioritize and promptly resolve urgent maintenance issues affecting safety (e.g., floods, electrical failures, Codes). - Routine Maintenance:
Complete all trouble calls (e.g., sink clogs, equipment resets) and document actions taken. - Mechanical Repairs:
Maintain and repair portable and fixed equipment, including carts, dietary tools, dish machines, pneumatic systems, and disposals. - Plumbing Tasks:
Handle non-licensed plumbing duties like clearing blockages and minor leak repairs in accordance with state codes. - Structural Repairs:
Fix doors, locks, ceilings, and minor roofing defects to uphold safety and aesthetics. - Preventive Maintenance:
Perform scheduled inspections and upkeep of mechanical and fire protection systems (e.g., weekly sprinkler valve checks). - General Support:
Complete work orders like furniture assembly and moving fixtures; 80% must be resolved within 60 days.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required

ExperienceA minimum of two years Maintenance Mechanic experience required; experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- It is required that a Maintenance Mechanic can read and write in English and effectively communicate with staff, vendors, patients, and visitors.
- Staff adheres to all I C.A.R.E. Standards.
- The Maintenance Mechanic should be mechanically inclined and familiar with the use of common hand and power tools.
- The Maintenance mechanic must follow all product use and warning instructions on all product packaging and ensure that all products purchased and stocked have an MSDS on file with the Assistant Director of Facilities.
